Nowadays, web services are mostly used in Digital Learning Environments in order to allow interoperability between platforms. A web service is an application, put on Internet, by service supplier, and accessible by the customers through standard protocols. The descriptions of services are recorded in a directory named UDDI. These web services are an application of service-oriented architecture.
Currently, the number of platforms for Digital Learning Environments based on Web Services is increasingly growing. The main question we have brought out is : how to implement this kind of platform for a university’s Digital Learning Environments. For that, several parameters must be taken into account such as the actors (learners, teachers, administrators …), services and implementation constraints.
Our aim is to respond to this question; that is to implement a service platform on a university’s Digital Learning Environments based on web services. To achieve this, we have presented the concepts around web services, Digital Learning Environments and related technologies; then we have proposed a model of services platform and at the end, we implement an example of web service to integrate into the modeled platform.
