The role of technology in our society is increasing. Technology, in the broadest sense of the term, is present in all areas of our life; in leisure, tourism, medicine, architecture and urban design. 3D technology has become an essential element in the process of implementation of urban projects. This paper aims to analyze the role of 3D technology throughout the different phases of the urban development. This paper highlights the importance of 3D technology as a tool for planners in the technical development of the urban project. It examines its role in the attempt to establish better city management. Our research also focuses on the role of 3D in the presentation of urban projects in times of consultation, public and stakeholder participation and decision support. However, what are the limitations of this technology and what are the implementation and application? Some answers are presented throughout this work.
